Maskerdam in Amlapura East Bali

  In the city center of Amlapura one can find the puri, "Maskerdam" and the puri Gede. The "Maskerdam", a corruption of the the name "Amsterdam" because of old ties with the Dutch queen Wilhelmina is the palace where the Djelantik family, the off spring of the last raja, still holds its meetings of the "Keluarga Besar" (the big family). Maskerdam gives an impression of how the Karangasem royalty lived in the old days. The Maskerdam has been renovated during the past year and a visit is very rewarding .
